NASCAR Hauler Parade Brings Fun to Speedway

This Thursday, NASCAR comes to town to celebrate everything Indianapolis is at the Brickyard 400. Festivities kick-off with the Brickyard Hauler parade, where the big rigs that carry the stock cars are the star. This free event is a great way for families to experience the thrill of being up close to the action.

This will be the third year in a row my family has attended, and our young race fans can’t wait. It’s the only show in town that brings together so much racing greatness, all along one street- Speedway’s Main Street, to be exact. Trucks roll along slowly, and eventually line up two-wrows of NASCAR trucks, photo used with permissionide from 10th Street to 15th Street.

The haulers eventually park right there on Main Street, and fans can talk to the truck drivers and assorted members of each crew. Most of the trucks hand out photos of the cars and drivers, and it’s fun to walk around and collect them all. It’s a great way to get excited for the main event on Sunday.

Parking on side streets is fairly easy, and onlookers can bring chairs, or simply sit on the curb. Once the haulers start rolling, it’s a solid 10-15 minutes of excitement as the brightly painted trailers drive by, reminding fans of all of their favorite drivers and cars. My kids cheer as their favorite cars go by, and so does everyone else.

m&mtruck_PMAfter exploring all of the haulers, visitors can make their way to the other activities happening along Main Street. Food trucks will have food and beverages available for purchase, and the IMS Kids Club area will have activities especially for young fans. Live entertainment will be on the stage, and interactive exhibits from local sports teams and other interests will be available. Last year we enjoyed an obstacle course and meeting Rowdy from the Indianapolis Indians.

After an evening of fun, the haulers will continue their trek and start moving north on Main Street and file into the Speedway for the rest of the Kroger Super Weekend at the Brickyard.
